Milk protein likely contributing more than just amino acids to human health

An article published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition inform the researchers report were able to detect significant amounts of biologically active milk protein breakdown products in the intestines of adult men and women.

Indeed, they contain other “biologically active” components that may affect overall health as well as than just essential nutrients (like protein). For instance, some milk components may modulate our intestinal bacteria, whereas others may influence the nervous system.

In brief the study concluded that their data provide evidence that some biologically active substances released during protein digestion are indeed present in the intestine.
