The Effect of Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation on Mortality and Morbidity of HIV-Infected Adults: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

The objective of this trial was to systematically review the efficacy of multiple micronutrient supplementation on mortality and morbidity in HIV-infected adults.

The study demonstrates that multiple micronutrient consumption (vitamin B group, vitamin C, vitamin E and folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin D, zinc, selenium and niacin) can decrease the mortality and morbidity of HIV-infected patients, at least those in developing countries, being administered daily between the equivalent dosages of RDA and six to ten times the dosages of RDA, depending on the varying stages of AIDS, by local doctors.
